The Old Gray Man
Advice on living to a ripe old age by being over prepared and under the radar.
Life is complicated enough.
Why make it worse?
These days, it seems like everyone with an agenda seeks to advance it by finding someone to be offended by for any number of reasons. Once they find that “special someone”, too often that person becomes a target for angry people to harass, pester, threaten, vandalize, injure, and even kill. In the moment, most people do not care what their attacker’s perspective is, they just want the attack to end so that they can go on about their lives.
This only gets worse the older we get.
Why not just go unnoticed in the first place? Avoiding the problems altogether and evading them if they start heading your way can be fairly simple. That is what we are trying to help you do here at The Old Gray Man. In doing so, we will also help ensure you are prepared to either get away if trouble still finds you or, in those rare extreme cases, force your way to safety.
“Experience is the most brutal of teachers but you learn, my God, do you learn.”
C.S. Lewis
“The best way to defend yourself is to avoid conflict. Being a gray man can help ensure you stay safe by leaving you options on how and when to act. Nobody knows how to do this better than The Old Gray Man.”
“I have known The Old Gray Man for years. He is a chameleon, equally relaxed and competent within a group of operators or amongst a crowd of legislators. Collegial and composed, he is a rare breed, mixing intellectual curiosity with down-to-earth pragmatism. Follow him and you will learn to mitigate personal risk while being quietly dangerous.”
Well, if I’m perfectly honest, he has not said a word about The Old Gray Man.
But I have to believe that he would have liked to.
